After my retirement from a government job in Information Technology, I decided to pursue my lifelong passion of creating art full-time. All my experiences and interests such as my love for nature, poetry and history are strongly imbedded in my art process. I believe that art, music or the words in a poem, which feel like the delicate taste of citrus on the tongue or like a sincere hug of a close friend, can bring happiness and harmony. Creating art - for me- is pure joy, which is the highest measure of life itself.

My semi-realistic and impressionistic creations very often contain historical and mythological symbology. In my paintings I address emotions, feelings, the symbolic atmosphere, mysteries of our world and a touch of the subconscious. I am influenced by the symbolism and mysticism of Rossetti and Vrubel, as well as primitivism of Cézanne, Picasso, Kandinsky and Chagall’s fauvism. I care about light, color, symbols, composition, and the perception of the moment. I create hundreds of pieces of art in my head. They are like little fairy tales, waiting to be told one day. When I am painting, my imagination fuses those ideas with my current thoughts, feelings and dreams.

I use palette knives to apply oil or acrylic paint in a visceral Alla Prima technic. This allows me to express myself intuitively in that creative moment of extreme happiness, liberty and inspiration. My art opens me to new aspects of freedom, feminine energy and existential truth about myself.

I deeply care about viewer's emotions, and I hope to make them a bit happier. I mostly work in my studio using sketches and photographs as a base for my paintings, but I love to do a plein air work in the fall. I started exploring pastels in 2024 with famous local artist Julia Lambright and I hope to add additional dimensions to my art. I studied with world renowned artist Elena Goubar from Switzerland and am proud to be a part of her apprenticeship group in Europe, Canada, and the United States.

I am currently volunteering as the Encantada exhibition Chair for Rio Grande Art Organization.
