They show annually at Abiquiu near Ghost Ranch, a frequent painting location. They follow the lineage of renowned teachers and painters Bill Gallen, Dave Ballew, Michael Lynch, and Ned Jacob, down through Bettina Steinke.
Davis has studied with and been mostly influenced by the landscape artists Bill Gallen, Dave Ballew, Arturo Chavez, Micheal Lynch, and by portrait painters, Leo Neufeld, Mona Tanzola, and John Stermer.
Artist Statement
I began my life outdoors with horses. Memories of childhood on my family’s cattle ranch become keener as I mature. The landscape, animals and the people who work on the land remind me where I come from and inspire my work. Painting outdoors helps me bring a necessary truth to my studio work. And training to see with an artist’s eyes has made expression feel limitless.
I want my work to convey honesty and I hope it expresses my awe of the natural world. Painting is an expression with its own unspoken language and learning that language is my daily passion.
