Biography:
Ming Franz was born in Taiwan and lives and works in New Mexico. She has traveled and studied art for decades and has become a sought-after instructor. She is a faculty member of the New Mexico Art League, a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society, Golden Paints and Silver Brush Companies Certified Artist and Educator, and 2018 Albuquerque Local Treasure.
Artist Statement:
The work of Ming Franz evokes a unique and powerful beauty while pushing the boundaries of contemporary Asian-American Art. Ming’s extraordinary talent lies in her ability to apply her vast knowledge of the natural world, transforming abstract ink forms into almost mystical landscapes. Inspired by the lush forest region of her childhood in Taiwan, Ming has chosen and mastered this versatile medium of Splash Color Painting. Her intuitive, adaptive style allows the splashes of colored ink to have their own voice. Swirls of ink are transformed into clouds surrounding mountains or waterfalls in forests; each drawing the viewer into a lush captivating environment.
