I love thinking outside the box. In my artwork, I am “drawn” to painting symbolism, emotion, ideas, and unusual perspectives. My hope is that viewers might carry these images in their minds and reflect on them long after they walk away.
In the largest pieces in this art exhibition, I present memories of events in my 15-year journey through disability and miraculous healing. My meaning is one thing, but the viewer's personal interpretation based on their experiences is just as valid.
In the smaller pieces, I am basically having a WONDERFUL time channeling that 3-year-old me discovering the magic and potential of my little friend's giant box of Crayola crayons. Inspired by my son, Diego, who is an accomplished guitarist, I also present several small abstracts from my recent guitar series.
In 2007, I graduated magna cum laude from UNM with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art studio. I received two grants from UNM for my proposal to curate two non-traditional multi-artist community-based art exhibitions and have continued since then as a curator for approximately 18 art shows under the names Vida Art Connections and Vida Art Exhibitions.
Since 1991, featured or hidden in all my artwork, is a unique and personally meaningful symbol, a paper clip.
