My first photograph was taken on a Kodak Brownie when I was about eight. I bought it at a church jumble sale for threepence, that would be equivalent to a quarter. My first photo was of a Jersey cow in the field next to our house in Berkshire, England.

I have been taking pictures of everything ever since. But mostly people and animals. Sometimes I’ll wander around a scrap yard looking for the unusual, seeing a rusted-out truck, a cracked window. Items taken at various angles or closeup can reveal the most interesting shapes and colors.

I take photos, constantly, seeing a composition, a person’s expression or clothing, an animal’s demeanor, reflection in broken glass or water. I also seek out unusual colors or color combinations. Mostly I use a digital camera but also use film on occasion. I believe that photographs should be printed. In the air force and Santa Fe Community College I learnt darkroom printing but now I have a modern photographic printer and use archival inks, paper and conservation glass. I do my own mounting, matting and framing.
