Fefe Brightside is a pseudonym I use that I feel embodies who I think I am or try to be. I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I have been into art for as long as I can remember, and one of my earliest memories is of my cousin teaching me how to hold a pencil more effectively. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was always the kid doodling in the back of class. I spent most of my time drawing anime characters but once I got older, I wanted to try painting. I started with acrylic but found my home using oil paints. I create a lot of pet portraits, which is very fun and fulfilling for me.

I create bright, playful, and sometimes bizarre paintings. I use oil paint for most of my work, but sometimes I use acrylic gouache on smaller pieces. My color palette comes from my favorite desserts as well as entertainment media like the subgenre of anime called Magical girl. Sailor Moon and characters like her influence my work, and I find meaning and power in their subject matter and bright colors.

I believe that my art is a form of therapy for myself and others. I love to show the bright side of some of the darker things in life, and I enjoy blending the two together into one cohesive image. Whether it's as simple as putting a smile on someone's face, or as profound as a life-changing realization, I hope that my art will brighten your day.
