Joseph E. Smith (1858–1935)
The Gallery With A Cause is delighted and honored to be able to offer this special, never before shown exhibit of 20 historic New Mexico photographs by Joseph E. Smith, with digital photo restoration by A. Leon Miler. Joseph Smith operated his commercial photographic studio until 1895, and continued taking photographs throughout Socorro and the surrounding area. His life’s work consists of more than 3,000 glass-plate and film negatives. All of the photos in this exhibit are available for purchase. The home where Joseph Smith lived and worked is being preserved as the J.E. Smith Museum and Gallery in Socorro, NM. A. Leon Miler's Bio, and a detailed bibliography of Joseph E. Smith works, are provided here.
