Jason is a self-taught artist who continues to experiment with new art materials. His artistic talent emerged during an internship at Very Special Arts of New Mexico, and he has been making art for almost 25 years. One of his paintings received first prize at the Midwest Regional Art Contest and was shown in the Nation's Capital. He has received commissions for the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe and the Marriott Hotel, both of which were used as in-room post cards. Jason has shown at various galleries and art fairs throughout New Mexico.

Jason works in many different styles, media and genres from portraits to landscapes, and abstracts. He strives to create intense detail, complex perspective and vibrant color. He especially enjoys working with color pencils, acrylics, oil pastels and watercolors. The theme he finds most intriguing is architecture. He is fascinated by structural engineering and loves the huge challenge of rendering man-made structures. He is enthralled by the varied use of lines, vertical and horizontal planes and perspective.

One of his other favorite subjects is trees. They are the architectural engineering of Mother nature. He finds that looking at trees has a mesmerizing and almost therapeutic effect. He is fascinated by their complexity and beauty. Both of these themes are represented in this show at the NMCC.
